WHY JEBAS

Why I’m mentioning about Jebases on my web pages and publishing their photos is, that during my 20 year experiences with exhibitions often happened, that the dilettante judge picked out the most unsightly Basset and putted him the first prize. These aren’t any news for me to get upset about it. This can happen in our country and also round the world, the judges „all round“ evaluate all breeds and only seldom know everything, often it can happen the opposite case, that they are not to by able to anything a never will be good in judging.

The reason why I’m writing this paper is that the discussion about the change of basset hound standards burned up all over Europe. How it has been called up and what it happening? Journalist in England have been started seditious campaign against dogs and several breeds including basset hound and classed them into group, which BBC specified as unacceptable in term of “excruciation by breeding”. My opinion is that people are bored to read about fight dogs, this is an old story. So that the journalist selected another topics and the situation is solved for several next years.

I red the proposed change of basset hound standards carefully of course, there are some few unessential, small changes involved. I could summarize it as inspiration of breeders to sensible approach to the breeding. The new standard – in case of his confirmation - absolutely not inspire to breed of Jebases, as it was echoed from the owners of Jebases during exhibition in Brno.

The success is extraordinary due to the fact that the titles were received in Holland, the European leading country in basset breeding.
